A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. metropol-valencia-espaa_14029867721_o 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26868060931_o 2014-Europa-2014-Musical-Instruments 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_31742371653_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0216-bw_15253258020_o 7u3a9387_49597579561_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0261_15438762735_o img_2671_44650716515_o 2g9a3002_49093922173_o MM180007 31-de-mayo-ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho21_14292932896_o bayside-panorama1_48800932818_o 7u3a5871_49426045672_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_38976643075_o img_9096_39633897311_o img_5025_48919067793_o img_9098_26589042549_o_37651620764_o img_8023_42792486790_o img_0696_36082757640_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_40402220170_o img_9951_36311274582_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-12_34309882792_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-84_29524291931_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770649990_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31349011641_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29876091821_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_28939791934_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29565262465_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27221947944_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_24866076103_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-2_24941103815_o 2g9a2045_27144776012_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
