A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. untitled_panorama4_19896721528_o monos-en-la-ciudad-09_9222310265_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-698_22730280712_o 20150911_141754665_ios_22743471585_o airport-0431_24765626727_o img_9333_42112019530_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9699812129_o img_0449_32242170628_o 2016-Pillar-Boxes img_0513_45389672554_o img_0712_21570886096_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25374459022_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-01_14153904724_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-6_29331870192_o gibraltar-eslovaquia06_10967660133_o 2g9a0758_48805744573_o gibraltar-eslovaquia09_10967673663_o img_4128_21107815155_o 7u3a9599_49900813366_o 7u3a5832_49425351048_o Trafalgar-7 Cuevas-de-San-Miguel-13 WP_20140507_004 2g9a1973_48699797396_o 2g9a6792_48204069856_o img_5331_48919602701_o img_4607_48713814578_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-25_31562037021_o img_1727_36605156140_o 2g9a6049_31113406825_o_31001129811_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-171_38490773486_o 2g9a4468_30279133433_o img_2387_26972655958_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-7_30879411105_o img_0740_39737060545_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-12_30578376000_o reunin-del-ministro-principal-con-susana-daz-en-sevilla_39182283384_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959236635_o untitled_panorama1-copy_29478978855_o 2g9a0295_26345456384_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
