160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños 4987-2020_50166301678_o 15-de-abril-2016-jardines-de-la-alameda-de-gibraltar-16_26348578752_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_8444_19896463778_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - Fabian Picardo led his GSLP/LiberalAlliance Ministers to the Convent earlier this morning where there were sworn into Government by Acting Governor Alison Macmilan. He and his team then headed to Number Six where they held their first press call as the newly formed Government following a landslide victory. img_3400_33432757723_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-en-chordais-09_9222660131_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii43_21216464545_o Gibraltar-Barbary-Macaques default lincoln-uefa-21072015-32_19720485978_o img_2623_44650699515_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente11_12249073025_o img_9675_21436926736_o 2g9a8825_48826777042_o 7u3a5309_49336229273_o gorhams-cave-5_39633656241_o P1080738 img_5354_48919072738_o img_4114-1_30891438077_o img_1270_36861661641_o img_1463_36849906982_o img_7980_44603393201_o 14-diciembre-2016-gbc-open-day-maratn-benfico-9_30801730584_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-145_26771238589_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-20_29570799416_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-191_24674692458_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-52_30927257876_o untitled_panorama2_36764784300_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-6_30962851685_o 123605_29462634486_o img_5156_28855007944_o 10-may-2016-visita-inaugural-crucero-jewel-of-the-seas-9_26935102985_o a-dsc_5909_19248927060_o ceremonia-de-las-llaves-gibraltar-25092014-20_15354667001_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
