He and his team then headed to Number Six where they held their first press call as the newly formed Government following a landslide victory. Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_4873_27994659758_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9703043186_o img_0398_44297006850_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival35_15165405641_o img_0480_44297011370_o img_8836_19518880384_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-40_29151480040_o 7u3a9328_49597829337_o img_5221_34313394031_o hospital-de-campaa_49727126017_o superman-en-gibraltar-actor-henry-cavill-carrera-5km-del-350-aniversario-de-la-marina-britanica-25102014-06_15634521395_o img_0545_22295985183_o img_0836_21410248259_o celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-04_9224808220_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_38976643075_o strongmen-201319_10019235074_o img_4198_20485083844_o 2g9a2047_48705913448_o img_9283_44160657644_o 2g9a5737_32763866525_o img_9361_43069207400_o 2g9a5824_32383639700_o img_9573_44881504251_o 2g9a6141_30746383930_o_31114931595_o img_9815_43969760715_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-71_25326916309_o img_8175_44603354841_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-31_30879399355_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354098553_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29565264255_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_25197190150_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_25466664616_o 3-de-diciembre-2015-bienvenida-al-atlethic-de-bilbao-11_23388774212_o celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-15_9222045653_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
