Primer vuelo Gibraltar-Marrakech restauracin-cementerio-witham-5_25477573705_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 15-de-abril-2016-jardines-de-la-alameda-de-gibraltar-40_26348527722_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-58_22731452942_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-la-oreja-de-van-gogh_9703170726_o img_0520_45389673434_o img_5338_34284284592_o 2020-Nuestros-nuevos-colegios-ilustraciones-de-Karl-Ullger ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho11_14292949546_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201420_15437107939_o img_4115_21097751282_o concierto-andrea-bocelli_48721053647_o american-war-memorial-7761_38737187195_o img_9662_20840476774_o Mezquita-7 P1080677 img_2796_39633713371_o 2g9a4551_48714142706_o img_7183_33968365653_o 2g9a4653_48714308867_o 08-may-2017-31visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_34353146610_o img_1904_40795171842_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-40_31531498352_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-106_38547066391_o 2g9a5335_30873432881_o reunin-del-ministro-principal-con-susana-daz-en-sevilla_38993310015_o 2g9a5396_30660430600_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354069183_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-4_30879584425_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978714186_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959239485_o img_5105_28857532983_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-14 Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
