A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. paisajes-urbanos-gibraltar-13_9222302555_o 2g9a9919_48908040682_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-230_22745340035_o skywalk-gibraltar-12-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_41367547470_o 1_discurso-del-ministro-principal-en-la-cuarta-comisin-de-la-asamblea-general-de-la-organizacin-de-naciones-unidas_30035758571_o 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23266206809_o inmaculada-fotos-23112014-10_15473742663_o img_4010_16259926531_o cola-entrada-a-gibraltar-28072015-16_20063444846_o img_0482_32242281698_o el-ministro-principal-fabian-picardo-i_14009911876_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-66_28815982524_o intercambio-cultural-entre-gibraltar-y-cdiz_42896444541_o 2019-D-Day-Landings-75th-Anniversary open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_16386706775_o 2g9a0241_48800934073_o 7u3a9982_50032885307_o 2g9a0349_48801427422_o Monos-18 sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39165215504_o P1080597 P1080662 Punta-Europa-27 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131099058_o img_5314_40516047320_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_40402219940_o img_9939_36311276032_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026133111_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-32_25327025989_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27834006765_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-78 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26652385766_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26062053432_o 2g9a9677_27839953186_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_25125251089_o 2g9a0171_26882523611_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
