160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños conferencia-sobre-telecomunicaciones-de-la-commonwealth_38590496000_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. restauracin-cementerio-witham-1_25384702571_o paisajes-urbanos-gibraltar-06_9222269187_o la-nube-de-levante-se-desliza-por-la-pista-del-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_22118435473_o 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23005920844_o img_3404_33432755993_o img_3745_34086394672_o 2014-Definitive Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions regiment-freedom-of-city-0193-bw_15253361098_o 2g9a4930_48874428293_o festival-literario-gibraltar09_10496929505_o Recuento-de-votos-del-referendum-de-1967-en-John-Mackintosh-Hall.-Fotografia-expuesta-en-Closure img_5771_49086658582_o 2g9a1068_48952340562_o cruise-liners-6_39603807432_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-3 Mezquita-24 edf img_5372_48919601781_o img_0513_36479612435_o img_3013_44603357601_o img_0621_36479634145_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_42163382962_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-103_29494973242_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31093428910_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-119_29494982332_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-50_30661180210_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-35_30828729481_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27319188402_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_24862230934_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-22_24314263923_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
