A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-648_22729747142_o los-escalones-del-mediterrneo-suben-desde-la-ciudad-a-lo-ms-alto-del-pen-de-gibraltar_22739694735_o img_9947_43202780524_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival44_14441424616_o img_9992_43202806454_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival17_14981888208_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival20_14277954117_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-81_29331731022_o hospital-de-campaa_49726813621_o 2_35347375880_o portaaviones-hms-queen-elizabeth-llegando-a-gibraltar-imagen-tomada-desde-uno-de-los-buques-de-apoyo-via-royal-navy-26_28386233849_o img_9542_42077118512_o 2g9a0939_48806102306_o 2g9a9516_50032088888_o img_0225_43781203681_o 2g9a1150_48952340942_o 2g9a2558_49086448071_o changing-of-the-guard-the-convent-0427_25762634458_o WP_20140508_032 2g9a2159_48706247486_o img_5075_48919600196_o 2g9a6098_30999556571_o_31078854596_o 2g9a4574_30827336691_o img_3030_42792488050_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-09_21177012172_o img_7988_42792487310_o a-dsc_5450_18814138884_o img_9536_44600532311_o tom-lackey-acrobata-aereo-de-94-anos-en-gibraltar-10102014-12_15329665857_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-136_37830964054_o img_2112_27703096215_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354049523_o img_2950_24620690124_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026150371_o img_4018_20872114008_o img_2287_36326616904_o 9-septiembre-15-national-day-2015-19_21300693535_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
