A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. el-telefrico-o-cablecar-es-la-forma-ms-cmoda-de-subir-a-la-parte-alta-del-pen-de-gibraltar_22116882144_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9699816029_o img_0457_46063480522_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9699827313_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival10_14277908057_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival46_14277789098_o fiesta-del-1-de-mayo-en-gibraltar-01052015-24_16744256733_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii64_21029603209_o 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-9_25062343246_o 2017-Christmas-Cupcakes calpeia6_48875163987_o gibraltar-feroe-febrero-2014-13_12865007524_o La-frontera-cerrada-vista-desde-Espana-con-numerosas-personas-agolpadas-para-poder-ver-a-sus-seres-queridos.-Fotografia-de-Gibraltar-Chronicle 2g9a2550_49086660532_o Alameda-5 alameda-gardens-7_39633174641_o 2g9a2091_48706249136_o 2g9a4298_48230650411_o 2g9a6717_48204067881_o 2g9a6797_48204161667_o img_5263_48919601271_o img_4582_48714144291_o img_0751_39737058625_o img_4726_48714144931_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-14_33659896683_o img_9742_44160768174_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31318392602_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-157_38547044471_o gibraltar-recuerda-a-las-vctimas-de-los-ataques-de-pars_30946069256_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-24_30879403245_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29275188980_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26613133941_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-31_24645635120_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
