A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 20150911_141754665_ios_22743471585_o laciudaddegibraltar la-ciudad-de-gibraltar-al-fondo-el-moderno-desarrollo-de-ocean-village-y-un-crucero-anclado-en-el-puerto_22739324065_o img_3717_34112973041_o img_9364_43016053315_o 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26902337206_o img_9933_43921159031_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-86_28815938784_o img_0500_32242283148_o 2014-Centenary-of-World-War-I inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25877289685_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0181-bw_15436772051_o concierto-andrea-bocelli_48720880666_o 2g9a3036_49093921178_o 2g9a0703_48805744723_o university-4_39633682981_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-02_13967081647_o strongmen-201358_10018989234_o img_9535_41403105774_o img_9652_41222375555_o 2g9a2021_49048528688_o 2g9a1967_49049024396_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-12 img_4024_48699323163_o img_5427_48919810982_o 2g9a8467_32759662738_o img_0773_25038466877_o img_1744_36605146450_o img_3561_34196602626_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-98_38515439002_o 2g9a5890_30999687491_o_31001126801_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978708946_o 2g9a5372_30961925375_o 2g9a4701_30279138873_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-21_30282259964_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-26 visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_25549742484_o Gibraltar Music Festival Sets off Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
