140520 - Obras en la frontera de Gibraltar cementerio-de-trafalgar-gibraltar_22744630275_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. paisajes-urbanos-gibraltar-11_9222314331_o 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23634130085_o 14-agosto-2014-colas-de-accceso-a-gibraltar08_14731881840_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26868060771_o 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26902336076_o img_5294_33601840964_o img_7563_35347380300_o university-25_39603874182_o img_2728_44650726475_o La-verja-vista-desde-Gibraltar 2g9a0328_48800935713_o Mezquita-28 2g9a0962_48805747038_o P1080704 panorama-10_24765449147_o st-michaels-cave-3_38737125405_o img_5335_48919602611_o 2g9a4714_48717217083_o img_5358_48919072583_o img_0141_40383719520_o 1-bob-peliza-mews_23521834898_o img_7173_34776877175_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-3_36334779573_o_36354892693_o img_0363_36479589625_o img_0779_36082761860_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-66_29605107235_o 2g9a5298_30659927820_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-33_25326942569_o 91751_29416778381_o img_5068-copy_29192350980_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27417177485_o 2g9a1996_27170660591_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
