2g9a9923_48907836361_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_22957510099_o img_3750_34086393702_o img_0497_32242282898_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-hollie-buhagiar_9702976076_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival17_14463208112_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii36_21028565388_o Gibraltar - Albert Hammonds in Concert img_9058_20148213751_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii78_21029567739_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-90_28815934124_o 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-13_24461806473_o 1_35347375150_o Gibraltar - Preparations for Operation Sea Snake start at Eastern beach with tanks sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_26002396678_o gibraltar-tradewise-chess-festival_001_12193311105_o gibraltar-tradewise-chess-festival_009_12193748354_o img_0082_43733183022_o img_0111_29910409648_o 2g9a9693_50032952867_o 7u3a5309_49336229273_o bedenham-memorial-1_38925059204_o 2g9a4285_48230652821_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131069161_o img_3148_40043122955_o 2g9a4634_48714143216_o img_2369_26972664768_o img_9630_43969757315_o img_9942_42190719001_o img_9019_37650150094_o_37651623794_o 2g9a5925_30306885903_o_31114929325_o img_1362_36849710882_o 2g9a5169_30961436535_o 2g9a9482_29192800700_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-58bn_21051012298_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
