nueva-ruta-area-gibraltar-manchester_27468335024_o restauracin-cementerio-witham-12_25359117872_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. cementerio-de-trafalgar-gibraltar_22556651580_o restauracin-cementerio-witham-29_25477575695_o 20150911_102103000_ios_22744394935_o 7u3a9831_50033001592_o 20150911_134012999_ios_22729827732_o gibraltar-en-el-cuarto-comit-de-la-onu_43397142080_o colas-coches-gibraltar-febrero-2014-3_12614703704_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-metro-motel_9703123916_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival18_14484566303_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-8_24458001554_o img_5314_34284315472_o university-23_27855821359_o img_9579_41403096754_o la-tv-alemana-zdf-graba-un-reportaje-en-gibraltar-michael-petch-zdf_26004665386_o evacuation-monument-0483_27856104469_o img_2796_39633713371_o img_4080_48699660251_o img_5379_48919603971_o img_2422_26972643808_o img_9485_44550411892_o img_9154_38333396962_o_24494938478_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-181_38490771696_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-71_32141121035_o 2g9a5269_25325643969_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-24_30962840765_o 2g9a4587_30827334381_o 2g9a9505_28859389643_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29275188980_o img_5192_29479184095_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_26808903004_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26062049432_o simulacro-accidente-aereo-en-gibraltar-03122014-20_15943923715_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
