A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 2g9a9441_48908095631_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii21_21029703919_o img_0491_32242285488_o 2g9a0287_48801281171_o la-galera-gustavo-bacarisas-de-gibraltar-acoge-las-obras-realizadas-durante-los-talleres-de-verano-del-servicio-de-trastornos-del-aprendizaje_24460200566_o strongmen-201309_10019337375_o 2g9a0302_48801426827_o 7u3a5713_49425346828_o 2g9a0398_48801429372_o 7u3a5860_49425350083_o 27-ene-17-fabin-picardo-visita-el-open-de-gibraltar-de-ajedrez-10_32175359960_o 2g9a4258_48230712127_o 2g9a2172_48706414522_o img_5432_48919073293_o img_4719_48713815473_o img_4175_45831075731_o 20171214_094516_39025535122_o img_2403-2_43916540004_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-108_26771251299_o img_5317_41421438505_o img_9014_37650179064_o_37651609184_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-26_31562036651_o 14-diciembre-2016-gbc-open-day-maratn-benfico-14_31527587901_o img_0138_36311380532_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354048853_o 2g9a5889_30746101090_o_31001134811_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026134431_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-30_30661185960_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-11_30790814901_o 126561_29207832900_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27417181635_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-37 Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
