Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. cola-entrada-a-gibraltar-28072015-22_19468716553_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-75_28815957304_o img_0484_44297149810_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-95_28818091023_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-yasmin-levy-mediterranean-andalusian-orchestra-ashkelon-22_9222719547_o HMS-Forth-9 Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions concierto-andrea-bocelli_48721053412_o partido-prensa-cdiz-veteranos-de-gibraltar-11_14755684515_o cruise-liners-9_25762305848_o img_2781_38737251845_o img_7093_27855789629_o Punta-Europa-25 2g9a4288_48230652136_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131153267_o img_5118_48919807542_o img_0108_45831061051_o 20171214_155330_38346301194_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-82_38490782596_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31318388382_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-166_24674703638_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29565263665_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354048013_o 95404_29416773681_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770633770_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26128568886_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026131231_o flashmob-sunborn-gibraltar-1411201450_15789738276_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37168271395_o 2g9a2010_27170660411_o img_2187_36326671424_o img_2743_25252276325_o img_5109_29479613055_o img_9115_26493987041_o 21-jun-2016-inauguracin-puente-colgante-en-la-reserva-natural-del-pen-de-gibraltar_27758329471_o img_8879_23852369974_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
