A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 2g9a9416_48907569188_o img_8490_19463661283_o untitled_panorama4_19896721528_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-663_22122331423_o img_3425_34086341712_o img_0010_43202789094_o ii-festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar05_10382618283_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9699832013_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201414_15438166510_o img_0688_21409074140_o img_0797_21597307915_o img_4670_44297311730_o 2g9a0889_48806101656_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-13_19570567125_o bayside-panorama1_48800932818_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-41_19913563571_o celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-07_9222039559_o 1_img_0068_41972485330_o img_4272_20919524120_o 7u3a5088_49336910832_o the-main-guard-1_38736855265_o img_9052_38333203782_o_38310542916_o 2g9a2047_48705913448_o 08-may-2017-32visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_34606278401_o 2g9a4621_48714142201_o 2g9a9244_29519581684_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-100_38515438782_o 2g9a5057_22782516378_o img_8767_39877385712_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-21_30790959301_o actividades-paralelas-al-open-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_32570311531_o img_5007_29446884666_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354090753_o a-dsc_0241_19249086800_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770669460_o lanzamiento-de-la-campaa-gibraltar-stronger-in-europe_25784870443_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
