A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 2g9a9459_48907571353_o vista-area-de-las-colas-de-acceso-a-gibraltar_9460862160_o concierto-de-albert-hammond-7-noviembre-201405_15553474450_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_22696990074_o 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26902335726_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez01_12102595906_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-89_29360020571_o img_2686_45564842381_o img_4680_46113659271_o Gibraltar - Operation Sea Snake sees tanks and Royal Marines land on Eastern Beach img_0778_20974137804_o Royal-Engagement 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-11_16426564266_o partido-prensa-cdiz-veteranos-de-gibraltar-12_14732690116_o img_4264_20485010034_o alameda-gardens-12_24765500227_o P1080642 2g9a2132_48705914833_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131153202_o img_5113_48919070043_o img_1722_36605172860_o img_7306_34736949056_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-119_38515437272_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-20_29570799416_o 1_17-feb-2017-visita-a-gibraltar-del-alcalde-de-chiclana-jos-mara-romn-y-rueda-de-prensa-con-fabin-picardo_32247952521_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_24862230934_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_25549746124_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-36_21187390825_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
