A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0440_45202139095_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-level-42_9703130258_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-99_29151376010_o 7u3a9326_49597082178_o img_6798_35502341306_o 2g9a4917_48874962376_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-25_37623775212_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-31_19287584903_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39843332272_o open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_16385772562_o strongman-en-casemates_9997706486_o strongmen-201371_10018937715_o img_0214_43733216672_o cruise-liners-13_39603826542_o img_0240_43781199221_o gib-view-3_27855876129_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-26 wellington-front0-2439_39634013641_o 2g9a5360_48726351407_o img_5403_48919804612_o img_9470_44160740494_o dscf7804_42790063810_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_42209194681_o img_9098_26589042549_o_37651620764_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall img_0781_35671157743_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-7_36312449324_o_36997615942_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-58_25326924399_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978714186_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27834029375_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37168271395_o 10-may-2016-visita-inaugural-crucero-jewel-of-the-seas-12_26935101915_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26088168001_o img_7963_21306611141_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
