A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-mark-eliyahu-ensemble-15_9225485712_o 2017-Year-of-the-Rooster gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-yasmin-levy-mediterranean-andalusian-orchestra-ashkelon-25_9225495430_o 2g9a0538_26246271154_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions proyecto-de-construccin-de-las-dos-nuevas-escuelas-de-bayside-y-westside-en-waterport-gibraltar_27712734618_o gibraltar-feroe-febrero-2014-06_12865040604_o img_2719_45564861361_o img_9579_41403096754_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_26002404168_o 7u3a5740_49425814116_o img_0241_29910447648_o img_5888_49086448426_o img_0253_43064742354_o img_8581_38737100725_o evacuation-monument-0484_24765697027_o P1080660 img_0231_45781934842_o img_3940_45831066281_o img_1637_30765335948_o img_9489_44603353981_o img_5412_41600473144_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-99_37830973514_o img_9171_37650531664_o_37651613904_o img_2387_26972655958_o el-gobernador-de-gibralar-sir-edward-davis_37651612474_o img_0530_36311271882_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-18_34309882182_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-25_29605150335_o 2g9a5132_30925617766_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-40_30927218946_o 2g9a4703_30827321991_o 2g9a7199_29205877204_o 124296_29462632706_o desfile-de-la-libertad-de-la-ciudad-gibraltar09_9858836553_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
