Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. repatriacin-de-nacionales-britnicos-desde-marruecos-covid-19_49870979302_o 2017-Accession-65th-Anniversary-Sapphire-Jubilee-MS img_2699_30623752887_o 2g9a2960_49094440386_o 2g9a0382_48800933118_o cervantes-03 2g9a0895_48805746648_o cable-car-to-top-of-the-rock_24765559447_o img_0160_43064727984_o P1080665 Punta-Europa-13 Punta-Europa-23 P1080742 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131101643_o img_9676_44881516961_o img_1417_36833032826_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-26_36750954840_o_37027014961_o 2g9a9158_30033586922_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770650640_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-103_29494973242_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-115_29494984942_o 11-de-noviembre-2016-concurso-cyber-centurion-en-gibraltar-13_30280719723_o 2g9a7375_29833285695_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29565268005_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-53 Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-18 Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-19 a-dsc_5736_18815928263_o Gibraltar Music Festival Sets off 5-enero-2014-cabalgata-de-reyes-gibraltar-17_16196153176_o Gibraltar Music Festival Sets off img_5973_25979428056_o festival-internacional-de-la-cancin-de-gibraltar_17502770682_o 2015_09_14__0112_21237024079_o La Línea de la Concepción, 25 septiembre 2013.
