A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0411_45389529274_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25466800206_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 7u3a9323_49597579991_o 7u3a9345_49597829157_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0151-bw_15439971905_o img_9968_21468037385_o 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-11_16426564266_o 2g9a8827_48826621296_o 1_img_0107_42877252475_o 2g9a8348_32759670828_o img_2789_38925381264_o img_2990_43693497345_o 2g9a4663_48714308717_o img_9049_37650098404_o_26590185969_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-165_24674703738_o img_9171_37650531664_o_37651613904_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-186_38490771436_o img_7178_33968356873_o 2g9a9446_31505853334_o img_0678_36082755180_o 2g9a5918_30306883013_o_31114929495_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978713966_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-35_25327024399_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026133961_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-12 Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
