Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-664_22120681504_o 2013-Gibraltar-International-Literary-Festival img_0511_45389671994_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_38976516635_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25400098401_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-16_14150403041_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-19_29439870255_o 1_img_0079_42877265175_o Gibraltar - Preparations for Operation Sea Snake start at Eastern beach with tanks 2g9a9555_50032626906_o 1_img_0093_29910414418_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-14 img_9750_21274985270_o Alameda-10 Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-11 img_3955_48699830482_o img_3946_48699832877_o img_5014_48919805947_o img_5286_48919601086_o img_2394_44635569021_o r3wire-varski-at-mtv-presents-gibraltar-calling-2018-day-2-by-ollie-millington-14_44163881184_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-34_31562033981_o img_0753_26036933558_o 7-feb-2017-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-y-el-alcalde-de-la-lnea-juan-franco_31920712804_o img_2057_36623942100_o 2g9a6119_30746368720_o_31001138851_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026134041_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27417180285_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37168279395_o a-dsc_5797_19248960240_o img_2254_36349059223_o 29-mayo-inauguracin-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho11_14309883432_o img_3787_36349091013_o 2g9a0322_26882459281_o 11-de-noviembre-2016-concurso-cyber-centurion-en-gibraltar-5_30280724363_o img_3025_24955609920_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29876089271_o GIBRALTAR NATIONAL DAY Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
