4985-2020_50167091982_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-579_22718232806_o Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Both Joe Bossano for GSLP/Libs and Kim Karnani Santos attended Line Wall Road where tensions were high at one point this morning). Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. gibraltar_22740494685_o monos-zona-alta-del-pen-con-turistas-13_9222296481_o el-telefrico-o-cablecar-es-la-forma-ms-cmoda-de-subir-a-la-parte-alta-del-pen-de-gibraltar_22116882144_o ii-festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar07_10382410644_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-la-oreja-de-van-gogh_9703157882_o fiesta-del-1-de-mayo-en-gibraltar-01052015-18_17364118671_o repatriacin-de-nacionales-britnicos-desde-marruecos-covid-19_49870672461_o img_9898_21441944136_o img_2658_45564847611_o partido-prensa-cdiz-veteranos-de-gibraltar-13_14732691056_o img_4692_46113659621_o entrenamiento-conjunto-balona-san-joseph-en-la-linea-02122013-26_11213189355_o img_0172_29910432278_o 7u3a5773_49426045347_o visita-del-alcalde-de-la-lnea-al-ministro-principal-de-gibraltar_48954605236_o 2g9a2577_49086663222_o img_5752_49085935083_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-15 Monos-en-la-ciudad-34 img_5301_48919804312_o img_8923_38363803121_o_38310548896_o img_7277_34736891666_o 08-may-2017-19visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_33895398434_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_30656124643_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354045423_o 2g9a5224_22782890628_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354047593_o 2g9a5407_30926509516_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-97_29314623750_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-49_30880571706_o 2g9a7452_29540586250_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27732674942_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-16 Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
