A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - Candidates from across both parties took time off for a quick lunch as they continued their walk abouts between polling station.Acting Governor Alison Macmilan was also observed visiting polling stations in the company of Presiding Officer Paul Martinez.Others involved in monitoring the progress of the voting has been Unite whose senior committee were on a walk about between polling stations. img_4883_41820479742_o 7u3a9425_49597579181_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-28_9222682679_o 7u3a6456_49454013878_o 7u3a9435_49597828457_o img_0501_22294323544_o img_2584_30623744547_o 26-julio-2014-partido-prensa-cdiz-veteranos-de-gibraltar-18_14753327324_o img_2696_30623753887_o img_9573_42077112542_o 2g9a0309_48801282011_o 7u3a9643_49900813071_o 2g9a0342_48800935473_o apes-1_38925510934_o 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-9_16265138550_o img_9636_38737419785_o Mezquita-11 2g9a4631_48714309102_o img_4578_48714310107_o img_1932_26967034208_o 50_48203763416_o 1_17-feb-2017-visita-a-gibraltar-del-alcalde-de-chiclana-jos-mara-romn-y-rueda-de-prensa-con-fabin-picardo_32217922802_o 2g9a5243_30925820726_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-15_30927287616_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-4_30280696483_o img_5344_29478989455_o a-dsc_0224_18816058093_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
