A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. gibraltar-music-festival-2013-la-oreja-de-van-gogh_9703160052_o img_5284_33601843274_o asher-moodie-reino-unido-junto-a-bailarines-de-la-mediterranen-dance-school-y-dance-academy_14033488074_o hospital-de-campaa_49726264848_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-mark-eliyahu-ensemble-07_9222705751_o university-panorama-4_21457018122_o default 2g9a0727_48806237582_o img_2697_44839795554_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-10_19563739892_o 2g9a0326_48801281811_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente07_12249582566_o celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-01_9224811070_o 2g9a8830_48826252508_o Cuevas-de-San-Miguel-2 evacuation-monument-0471_39634009881_o st-michaels-cave-8_38925215754_o 2g9a8467_32759662738_o img_0182_42190668381_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-101_37830945934_o img_9929_27319565887_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-122_38515437032_o img_0721_28129694239_o img_8833_24494271258_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-15_32129381595_o img_1166_36814004296_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-37_31992468812_o img_0184_36082739060_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31318730812_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770649230_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-41_30927266706_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-16_30243936153_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-20 concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-47bn_21051017518_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home. a-dsc_5463_18816006513_o flashmob-sunborn-gibraltar-1411201401_15193977923_o desfile-de-la-libertad-de-la-ciudad-gibraltar01_9858763615_o img_1452_24347196224_o Gibraltar -28th September 2015 - The Governor of Gibraltar today departed From office bidding Farewell to politicians and the armed Forces in what ended up to be a low Key ceremony.
