181016 - Gibraltar inaugura las nuevas oficinas del Puerto nueva-ruta-area-gibraltar-manchester_28048098956_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. paisajes-urbanos-gibraltar-14_9225069476_o 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23634107145_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - Fabian Picardo led his GSLP/LiberalAlliance Ministers to the Convent earlier this morning where there were sworn into Government by Acting Governor Alison Macmilan. He and his team then headed to Number Six where they held their first press call as the newly formed Government following a landslide victory. cola-entrada-a-gibraltar-28072015-15_19468678803_o img_4833_40056265270_o EL-MIN3 img_0529_45389674114_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival53_15167947472_o hospital-de-campaa_49727126392_o 2g9a9698_50032952832_o Gibraltar - Operation Sea Snake sees tanks and Royal Marines land on Eastern Beach superman-en-gibraltar-actor-henry-cavill-carrera-5km-del-350-aniversario-de-la-marina-britanica-25102014-06_15634521395_o 7u3a9671_49900812806_o 1_img_0115_42877250235_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-16 a5f2801198b538a6ef6768746b489725 Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-7 Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-25 wellington-front0440_38925123684_o img_3942_48699660061_o img_3929-1_45106516084_o img_4077_45831074851_o img_4147_45831076331_o img_1165_36830716112_o img_3044_40937838241_o img_2401-2_44585525912_o img_0782_39877392102_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-23_31305172970_o 2g9a5158_30925681146_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354089813_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-93_25326900619_o img_2296_36765365780_o 128453_28874479113_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29876085361_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-13_24941101885_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
