A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. airport-0429_24765631067_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival63_15145279956_o 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-27_25088654835_o 2016-Gibraltar-Historic-Gates 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_32431793851_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-10_19882269126_o intercambio-cultural-entre-gibraltar-y-cdiz_42178240204_o gib-view-5_38736598375_o 15-de-enero-2016-simulacro-de-rescate-con-helicpteros-merlin-mk3-en-gibraltar-05_24315970931_o P1080682 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-8_37398194050_o img_2362_39948487535_o visita-del-alcalde-de-la-lnea-al-ministro-principal-de-gibraltar_48954055458_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-33_29495045292_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48114554797_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-73_29314644140_o actividades-paralelas-al-open-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_32570311531_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31318391752_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354091783_o 2g9a6127_31077404666_o_31114931915_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770648960_o 2g9a6153_30306638643_o_31001137221_o 2g9a5125_30961359425_o 2g9a5139_30873009391_o 2g9a5380_30926376986_o 2g9a7435_29797984576_o 2g9a9786_29372688612_o 10-may-2016-visita-inaugural-crucero-jewel-of-the-seas-10_26935102685_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-28 Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-2 img_9551_25954052774_o fabin-picardo-en-la-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_24124239201_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
