Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-18_9222665493_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions img_8949_19954763830_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25466798246_o 2g9a8306_48875081921_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201435_15623715895_o festival-literario-gibraltar17_10496865205_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_38976577625_o 251DBF1 2012-Christmas img_0123_43064738704_o 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-14_16264863008_o Punta-Europa-17 7u3a5169_49336226428_o img_1908_26967038948_o 2g9a4209_48230718357_o img_0713_26036925188_o 2g9a5914_48204606476_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-3_31288267354_o img_9546_44550414532_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-36_31562033491_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-126_24674712558_o 2g9a5737_32763866525_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 2g9a5385_25326079619_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-32_31677588095_o 2g9a7239_29750591121_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978712646_o img_5275_29399288021_o 10-may-2016-visita-inaugural-crucero-jewel-of-the-seas-9_26935102985_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-16 Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-23 joseph-garca-viceministro-principal-de-gibraltar-el-9-feb-2016-durante-un-simulacro-de-incidente-en-el-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_24286853364_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-37_21187390205_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
