A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-641_22754542821_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25492907175_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-yasmin-levy-mediterranean-andalusian-orchestra-ashkelon-27_9222724905_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-3_18949681773_o intercambio-cultural-entre-gibraltar-y-cdiz_41086200300_o celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-13_9222042473_o portaaviones-hms-queen-elizabeth-llegando-a-gibraltar-imagen-tomada-desde-uno-de-los-buques-de-apoyo-via-royal-navy-32_39267697245_o strongmen-201363_10019008905_o 2g9a0375_48801282191_o 2g9a9533_50032088603_o 7u3a5082_49336691431_o lighthouse_25761731128_o 2g9a4625_48714309212_o img_1388_36849704982_o img_9834_44160804094_o dementia-day-centre-panorama1_32228021781_o img_9924_36082747380_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29876090591_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959235925_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27417181635_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26154508595_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-51bn_21052089859_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-15_21177005692_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
