181016 - Gibraltar inaugura las nuevas oficinas del Puerto manifestacin-por-una-frontera-humanitaria-03_12360196623_o Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Line Wall Road Polling station where tensions were high at one point this morning) - Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. nueva-ruta-area-gibraltar-manchester_28082129415_o 2g9a9434_48908099111_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-643_22743317185_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival08_14461010631_o img_8868_20147019981_o la-galera-gustavo-bacarisas-de-gibraltar-acoge-las-obras-realizadas-durante-los-talleres-de-verano-del-servicio-de-trastornos-del-aprendizaje_24404003911_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-58_29331769122_o img_6765_35502346436_o lema-stay-at-home-stay-safe_49846306238_o repatriacin-de-nacionales-britnicos-desde-marruecos-covid-19_49870979432_o img_2606_45564829541_o 2017-HMS-Gibraltar-set regiment-freedom-of-city-0130_15253269380_o 15-de-enero-2016-simulacro-de-rescate-con-helicpteros-merlin-mk3-en-gibraltar-07_24315970501_o cervantes-03 henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201422_15437616718_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_28095552549_o celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-05_9224807456_o strongmen-201385_10018779694_o 7u3a5757_49425351698_o 7u3a5792_49425348648_o Monos-57 Monos-en-la-ciudad-29 2g9a2160_48705914583_o 2g9a4558_48714308442_o img_1504_29696593567_o img_8994_26588613049_o_38310545766_o img_7178_33968356873_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354054203_o 2g9a5261_25325595389_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770649700_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29332130534_o img_3851_36326634674_o 2g9a9315_29448003616_o 128453_28874479113_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-16_24823160332_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
