A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 20150911_151732617_ios_22556030560_o 14-agosto-2014-colas-de-accceso-a-gibraltar01_14895581056_o 21-agosto-2014-colas-de-entrada-y-salida-de-gibraltar11_14966757576_o img_3778_34086388882_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23242601371_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-la-oreja-de-van-gogh_9703170726_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-70_28815972134_o img_0688_21409074140_o proyecto-de-construccin-de-las-dos-nuevas-escuelas-de-bayside-y-westside-en-waterport-gibraltar_27712734728_o img_9922_21280304538_o 2017-50th-Anniversary-of-the-1967-Referendum 31-de-mayo-ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho27_14129463140_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201439_15623709805_o Cuevas-de-San-Miguel-7 bayside-panorama2_48800933388_o P1080671 main-street-0433_24765675827_o img_5451_48919073208_o img_0152_45781930142_o img_0108_45831061051_o img_9558_43969743275_o img_2989_44603357891_o img_9828_31008297668_o img_4614_23521818338_o img_1892_40128326544_o 08-may-2017-5visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_33895413304_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-144_37830962124_o 2g9a5188_22782815758_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-171_38490773486_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-13_30247385894_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959235925_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978711006_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27732674942_o img_3849_36349062283_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-93 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-112_29314612800_o img_9056_26287195250_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
