2g9a9434_48908099111_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23551678971_o cola-entrada-a-gibraltar-28072015-11_20081748292_o img_3759_34086391282_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-level-42_9699898675_o foot-04_17683449071_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii07_21190299516_o keep-your-distance_49850442083_o 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26868055661_o 2g9a0224_48801280611_o 7u3a6464_49454013508_o 2g9a0974_48805746868_o intercambio-cultural-entre-gibraltar-y-cdiz_41086229170_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-35_19882290086_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-32_19570599375_o img_0074_42877268385_o img_0175_41972500260_o 2g9a2568_49086447926_o img_9638_38737417245_o commonwealth-park-18_27855803939_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-8 Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-24 2g9a4625_48714309212_o img_5383_48919811822_o img_5432_48919073293_o img_0108_45831061051_o img_1688_36166373184_o untitled_panorama1_43884161044_o img_1470_43725802765_o img_2352_25970937847_o 08-may-2017-10visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_33895407454_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-75_29314642660_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-94_29314625790_o 2g9a5920_30999541741_o_31001133241_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-25_30879402725_o img_4984_29192586210_o img_5073-copy_29401041431_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-58 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26586105392_o img_4454_25550523361_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
