A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0484_44297149810_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii29_21029682609_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii39_20595337603_o 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-8_24458001554_o Gibraltar - Preparations for Operation Sea Snake start at Eastern beach with tanks 2g9a8346_48875081651_o 29-mayo-inauguracin-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho12_14125125990_o 2g9a9878_50032156553_o 7u3a9633_49900298003_o 7u3a9697_49901121042_o 7u3a5840_49426046697_o 2g9a2011_49049227612_o Monos-62 Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-15 img_5427_48919810982_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-97_38515439102_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-103_38515438732_o img_5398_42275726052_o img_2330_25970941727_o img_8843_38334131232_o 24-04-2017-desfile-de-la-libertad-de-la-ciudad-de-los-royal-engineers-5_34113617351_o img_9924_36082747380_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-16_34309882402_o 2g9a5355_25325890909_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-60_30661177160_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29665541780_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26088169901_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
