A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. gibraltar-en-el-cuarto-comit-de-la-onu_45210241811_o img_3386_33432759213_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-level-42_9699891757_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-90_28815934124_o img_5214_34313396111_o img_5152_34402436316_o lema-stay-at-home-stay-safe_49846306238_o img_9932_21457127292_o img_2738_44650724685_o img_4702_46063765432_o 2g9a0222_48801426452_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-7_19574879841_o 62032-0-02 gibraltar-estonia-marzo-2014-6_12955936375_o Juan-Franco-izda.-y-Fabian-Picardo-en-la-exposicion-del-50-aniversario strongmen-201361_10019115043_o Cuevas-de-San-Miguel-5 Monos-en-la-ciudad-7 Punta-Europa-11 Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-15 2g9a1884_48699830332_o 2g9a4504_48713812218_o img_0152_45781930142_o img_7983_42792487500_o img_4150_36994291622_o img_9454_44600536421_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-15_31299673424_o 23-feb-2018-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-e-izquierda-unida-16_38627528080_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-88_29570774006_o img_0403_36082652700_o 2g9a5394_30872844041_o img_2343_37163010205_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-13_22784347128_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26062053582_o gobernador-de-gibraltar-edward-davis_23870184843_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
