181016 - Gibraltar inaugura las nuevas oficinas del Puerto nueva-ruta-area-gibraltar-manchester_28082275775_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 20150911_151621749_ios_22556050620_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-648_22729747142_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23216950362_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9703043186_o img_8782_20141620695_o img_5273_34402476996_o 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_31742374973_o 2013-Old-Gibraltar-Views-III 2016-Gibraltar-Year-of-the-Monkey sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-20_19544477306_o img_9775_21281337969_o gibraltar-eslovaquia09_10967673663_o strongmen-201304_10019468013_o strongmen-201336_10019260593_o 7u3a9568_49900298323_o 2g9a1094_48952339697_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131093373_o img_1488_43916117684_o r3wire-varski-at-mtv-presents-gibraltar-calling-2018-day-2-by-ollie-millington-113_43072431440_o img_2439_26972638298_o img_9483_44600536061_o img_0741_38822718450_o img_1414_30765092938_o img_7169_34776867605_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-135_37830945114_o 08-may-2017-36visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_34606275221_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978711006_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_30656124793_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026143271_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-56_25326925669_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29565280515_o 10-may-2016-visita-inaugural-crucero-jewel-of-the-seas-4_26661861520_o img_9551_25954052774_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-32_24310522614_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
