Vistas de Gibraltar 160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. manifestacin-por-una-frontera-humanitaria-07_12360454234_o skywalk-gibraltar-7-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_41367548320_o el-telefrico-o-cablecar-es-la-forma-ms-cmoda-de-subir-a-la-parte-alta-del-pen-de-gibraltar_22116882144_o 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23525537922_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii05_21216558505_o 7u3a9340_49597082033_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions proyecto-de-construccin-de-las-dos-nuevas-escuelas-de-bayside-y-westside-en-waterport-gibraltar_40689988385_o img_2620_44650699805_o img_2671_44650716515_o 2015-Queen-of-Gibraltar-Cecil-Beaton img_0553_22917125655_o img_4703_44297315080_o 2g9a0367_48801428527_o cervantes-04 lincoln-uefa-21072015-26_19287595913_o img_4119_21276205220_o beaches-1_25762193678_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-24 2g9a5937_48204654177_o img_1528_43725778095_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-124_38547056921_o img_9146_37650292474_o_38310538546_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-128_24674712258_o img_7269_34736879406_o img_7278_34645022791_o img_9878_36433411556_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770640490_o 2g9a9159_29519593734_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-14_29605156535_o 2g9a5089_22782597398_o img_2307_37163012995_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-25_30927279726_o 2g9a4655_30279144063_o 2g9a9686_29481296705_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_26808902494_o img_5038_29481012585_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-80 Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
