A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 2g9a9330_48908300217_o 2g9a9368_48908092481_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-453_22719033706_o img_0548_44297154060_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez10_12101888315_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii02_21028453870_o hospital-de-campaa_49726814151_o Spitfire-75th-Anniversary img_0802_21597290925_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-16_19570562035_o gibraltar-tradewise-chess-festival_008_12193750804_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente21_12249491304_o img_9448_42123273581_o 2g9a2063_49048524878_o 7u3a5305_49336227778_o img_4806-after_39603798092_o evacuation-monument-0485_27856103789_o img_4989_48919806107_o img_3931-1_45831050101_o img_2332_26972679258_o img_1817_36605211090_o img_1547_36185389504_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-78_38490782726_o 08-may-2017-13visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_34353152170_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-68_32141122185_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026133161_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026143271_o 2g9a4703_30827321991_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-3_30880606196_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29665527960_o 2g9a7343_29540551170_o 21-jun-2016-inauguracin-puente-colgante-en-la-reserva-natural-del-pen-de-gibraltar_27222308203_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27834024555_o 3-de-diciembre-2015-bienvenida-al-atlethic-de-bilbao-17_23129285749_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
