restauracin-cementerio-witham-12_25359117872_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. skywalk-gibraltar-3-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_42273842695_o jason-cruz_14224975050_o 25-noviember-2014-cola-de-salida-gibraltar-08_15694990748_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23299055366_o img_0070_43872609692_o img_9397_43202798214_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival01_14463022722_o img_5217_34313395251_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25877290795_o img_5323_34284299922_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-29_29360135941_o 2016-Gibraltar-Year-of-the-Monkey 2014-Evacuation-2.00 regiment-freedom-of-city-0130-bw_15439624852_o Gibraltar - Operation Sea Snake sees tanks and Royal Marines land on Eastern Beach img_9902_21281251049_o 27-ene-17-fabin-picardo-visita-el-open-de-gibraltar-de-ajedrez-3_32401770042_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-15_37398193500_o Royal-Engagement 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-3_16452572595_o evacuation-monument-0483_27856104469_o 7u3a5800_49425348083_o taxi-4_39604162832_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48114555022_o 2g9a4669_48714142816_o 2g9a4502_48713812328_o img_5330_41421440735_o img_4602_23521819188_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026135641_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026144571_o 2g9a5078_30659530810_o 2g9a5323_30845129512_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-52_30927257876_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-35_25327024399_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-55_30828718831_o a-dsc_5812_19430245192_o img_2925_24624583463_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27417179785_o lanzamiento-de-la-campaa-gibraltar-stronger-in-europe_25784830083_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27417189105_o img_9092_23853830033_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
