2g9a9864_48907305153_o Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Both Joe Bossano for GSLP/Libs and Kim Karnani Santos attended Line Wall Road where tensions were high at one point this morning). Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. img_9975_43202807274_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-metro-motel_9703121380_o img_5259_34313385731_o HMS-Forth-2 img_0685_21410198539_o 2g9a0232_48801424947_o bayside-panorama5_48800933633_o festival-literario-gibraltar15_10496884345_o 2g9a0948_48805747368_o Papeleta-de-votacion-para-el-referendum-de-1967 2g9a0955_48806239942_o 27-ene-17-fabin-picardo-visita-el-open-de-gibraltar-de-ajedrez-14_32513494886_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_38976577625_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-15_19882331896_o img_9446_27252734807_o img_5910_49086447936_o Monos-26 Monos-en-la-ciudad-35 Alameda-8 commonwealth-park-6_38925451484_o 7U3A2447 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-88_29570774006_o 23-feb-2018-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-e-izquierda-unida-10_25566929227_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-51_30927331866_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36331785984_o 2g9a4491_30280747154_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354072523_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29565259105_o img_2307_37163012995_o img_9551_25954052774_o img_3865_37163019595_o 4-abr-2016-inauguracin-nueva-sede-banco-internacional-de-gibraltar-7_26142219192_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
