A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-676_22730312622_o colas-frontera-de-gibraltar-11-noviembre-20142_15144681703_o img_3744_34086395152_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-mark-eliyahu-ensemble-14_9225486542_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-lawson_9703139958_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii07_21190299516_o 7u3a9380_49597081643_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0174_15435565781_o 7u3a9474_49597080448_o img_0538_22891166986_o default strongmen-201319_10019235074_o 2g9a4968_48874960906_o 7u3a5836_49425351003_o 2g9a9782_50032155663_o P1080604 commonwealth-park-10_38925456644_o img_4619_48714310567_o img_4726_48714144931_o img_8290_46581729942_o img_7980_42790065500_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-22_34309886052_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026146381_o 2g9a5851_30746109900_o_31001127121_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37168277215_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-42_30280669733_o img_2140_36973632626_o 2g9a9520_28856841304_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-12_30874586331_o 2g9a1651_26964555920_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
