restauracin-cementerio-witham-27_25451433736_o 7u3a9776_50032204973_o Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Both Joe Bossano for GSLP/Libs and Kim Karnani Santos attended Line Wall Road where tensions were high at one point this morning). Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. 20150911_132729617_ios_22120633334_o 21-agosto-2014-colas-de-entrada-y-salida-de-gibraltar05_14966768396_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23216935692_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-la-oreja-de-van-gogh_9703170726_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-en-chordais-07_9225430980_o cix-italia_14053042243_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0130-bw_15439624852_o 2g9a3028_49094631477_o open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_15766682923_o img_4138_20841535414_o 7u3a9601_49901121892_o img_5800_49085938123_o 2g9a8843_48826251773_o 2g9a8848_48826627341_o Alameda-14 img_5075_48919600196_o img_3001_44603393311_o img_3339_26064402977_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-2_37148809895_o_37027014631_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-27_29605147855_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354075493_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-31_30962836235_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-104_29524279591_o 2g9a4554_30827342191_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-30_30282253884_o 2g9a9306_29373760242_o 2g9a9356_29447972026_o 2g9a9365_28857722714_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26652323076_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26128564246_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
