2g9a9407_48907561353_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-353_22557207590_o Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Both Joe Bossano for GSLP/Libs and Kim Karnani Santos attended Line Wall Road where tensions were high at one point this morning). Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. img_4808_41146188104_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival41_14441282016_o img_9997_43921118341_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0130-bw_15439624852_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-mark-eliyahu-ensemble-03_9225477948_o img_9968_21468037385_o 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_31742372313_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-22_19285909334_o Gibraltar - Preparations for Operation Sea Snake start at Eastern beach with tanks lincoln-uefa-21072015-38_19913569091_o img_0055_41972489800_o g_3661_38736744805_o img_1922_27856026519_o img_2332_26972679258_o img_4766_48713815658_o img_9214_37650393834_o_38310530536_o img_9540_44600528691_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-19_32022612661_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_42163383582_o img_0781_35671157743_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770633770_o 2g9a5892_30746096590_o_31114930125_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770640990_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-22_30927364656_o img_3846_36991614202_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-32_30880582466_o 2g9a7355_29540549990_o img_5094_28857584163_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-32 visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltarvisita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_25881618630_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-33_24310522334_o a-dsc_6034_19436444675_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
