A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - Fabian Picardo led his GSLP/LiberalAlliance Ministers to the Convent earlier this morning where there were sworn into Government by Acting Governor Alison Macmilan. He and his team then headed to Number Six where they held their first press call as the newly formed Government following a landslide victory. 14-agosto-2014-colas-de-accceso-a-gibraltar06_14731888030_o 21-agosto-2014-colas-de-entrada-y-salida-de-gibraltar02_14966774296_o 21-agosto-2014-colas-de-entrada-y-salida-de-gibraltar31_14803042770_o img_8817_19953547740_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_22957254039_o img_8862_19953453840_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii73_21028281910_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25466796986_o 7u3a9425_49597579181_o img_1821_31692340728_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_38976643075_o gibraltar-feroe-febrero-2014-05_12864621075_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39165069214_o strongmen-201328_10019227265_o 7u3a5096_49336224348_o Monos-19 Monos-40 img_4689_25762494808_o 2g9a4259_48230656026_o 2g9a6810_48204117117_o img_4903_48919066693_o img_4111_31960315188_o img_4147_45831076331_o img_2973_43693497895_o img_1523_43725781705_o img_2407_26972646648_o 23-feb-2018-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-e-izquierda-unida-14_38627528330_o 08-may-2017-30visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_34606279781_o 2g9a9337_32228019781_o 2g9a6019_31077509056_o_31078855696_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_25374327352_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37168277215_o 31-de-mayo-ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho21_14292932896_o img_3782_36973629806_o img_2602_24738688579_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
