A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0350_45389522814_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival25_14981861847_o img_8865_20141460565_o HMS-Forth-6 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_32554442355_o img_4742_46113676411_o img_7589_35347377330_o 2g9a0727_48806237582_o img_0786_21605784301_o img_4091_21081660906_o 2g9a0363_48800936343_o 2g9a9533_50032088603_o 62032-0-07 659-boab-wa_48826285888_o 7u3a5305_49336227778_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-6 sdr 2g9a0590_48919805177_o 2g9a4491_48713812588_o img_5208_48919808542_o img_5385_48919811767_o img_5382_42322446791_o img_1801_36166463984_o img_4145_37023368741_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-14_31319336803_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-18_31331051493_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-3_36334779573_o_36354892693_o img_2308_36765362270_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-102_29494991242_o 2g9a6049_31113406825_o_31001129811_o The Gibraltar Music Festival Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
