A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0347_45202116045_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival33_14277805098_o img_0537_45389674614_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii67_21224337551_o img_0562_45389676644_o 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26868056531_o 7u3a9447_49597080888_o img_0482_22891101906_o 7u3a9470_49597578596_o img_9919_21280098020_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_25004290317_o 7u3a9642_49901121562_o P1080663 Punta-Europa-27 2g9a2056_48705912393_o img_1694_43916343214_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131093293_o img_8856_37650978714_o 2g9a0594_48919596876_o 08-may-2017-23visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_33895392544_o 2g9a4696_48714140606_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-17_34309882282_o img_9487_42792483980_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-25_34428542256_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_41488508274_o 2g9a5878_30746419350_o_31114930345_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_42163383242_o gibraltar-recuerda-a-las-vctimas-de-los-ataques-de-pars_30893215301_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-105_38515438602_o img_7886_23578624414_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-25_36750956960_o_37027015081_o 5-enero-2014-cabalgata-de-reyes-gibraltar-02_15599438684_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
