cueva-de-st-michael-gibraltar_22557751520_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. gibraltar-recibe-anualmente-ms-de-7-millones-de-turistas_22740254985_o airport-0424_39633944971_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - As Gibraltar woke up for work, John Macintosh Hall closed the count to the general election placing the GSLP/Liberal Alliance as the party to form Government. With an overall mayority 68.03% against the GSD's 31.37, the GSLP/Liberals recorded an overwhelming victory which once again sees Fabian Picardo as the Chief Minister of Gibraltar. The results were: -PICARDO, Fabian Raymond 10852 GARCIA, Joseph John 10661 CORTES, John Emmanuel 10529 LICUDI, Gilbert Horace 10379 ISOLA , Albert Joseph 10313 COSTA, Neil Francis 10048 SACRAMENTO, Samantha Jane 9822 LINARES, Steven Ernest 9690BALBAN, Paul John 9511 BOSSANO, Joseph John 9145FEETHAM, Daniel Anthony 5054 HASSAN NAHON, Marlene Dinah Esther 4892 PHILLIPS, Elliott John 4784 REYES, Edwin Joseph 4766 CLINTON, Roy Mark 4733 HAMMOND, Trevor Nicholas 4578LLAMAS, Lawrence Francis 4565 VASQUEZ, Robert Michael 4535 WHITE, Christopher George 4324 KARNANI-SANTOS, Kim Sylvia 4314 gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-40_9225470116_o 2018-HMS-Queen-Elizabeth gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-mark-eliyahu-ensemble-01_9222702025_o concierto-andrea-bocelli_48720545138_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-7_29360183871_o 2g9a0686_48806238037_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-01_19721865789_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-3_18949681773_o 2g9a9519_50032088848_o 7u3a5292_49336228223_o american-war-memorial-7758_25762317278_o Monos-31 Monos-en-la-ciudad-31 Punta-Europa-29 2g9a0661_48919806947_o 2g9a6827_48204112801_o 2g9a8300_46581739082_o 2g9a8346_32759671008_o img_3954_30891445097_o img_7980_44603393201_o 2g9a9443_32228022401_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-145_26771238589_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354077163_o 2g9a5753_32383635430_o 2g9a5972_30746307420_o_31001132081_o 2g9a4628_30614087960_o 2g9a9457_28859434433_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-55 Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
