181016 - Gibraltar inaugura las nuevas oficinas del Puerto manifestacin-por-una-frontera-humanitaria-05_12360020695_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. conferencia-sobre-telecomunicaciones-de-la-commonwealth_25529331017_o restauracin-cementerio-witham-11_25451427916_o skywalk-gibraltar-6-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_42273842345_o 20150911_132840784_ios_22729553162_o el-hotel-flotante-de-lujo-sunborn-est-permanentemente-en-la-marina-de-ocean-village-de-gibraltar-y-cuenta-con-un-casino-inaugurado-en-2015_22117876504_o playa-de-sandy-bay-en-gibraltar_22750635461_o 20-agosto-2014-colas-de-salida-de-gibraltar16_14987265802_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25400097061_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-39_28818233863_o HMS-Forth-7 regiment-freedom-of-city-0110_15416901426_o partido-prensa-cdiz-veteranos-de-gibraltar-10_14755683365_o 2g9a0199_48801280876_o img_4237_20486583723_o 2g9a8351_48874549528_o img_9655_21436966676_o la-tv-alemana-zdf-graba-un-reportaje-en-gibraltar-michael-petch-zdf_25938054202_o 7u3a5257_49336693641_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_28095556259_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-1 sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_38976679025_o 2g9a4245_48230713262_o img_9721_21275020840_o img_5173_48919068418_o img_9281_44160659384_o img_2394_44635569021_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-178_24674699358_o img_7258_34614714372_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-40_31531498352_o img_9510_35361473394_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_30656124793_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-16_30790963581_o 2g9a9697_29372737892_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-39 Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
