160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños desayuno-financiero-de-gibraltar-en-londres_30577174417_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-641_22754542821_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-646_22120543744_o img_3987_16235898436_o img_0355_45389521874_o img_9367_43921120421_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez27_12102225364_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival27_14981855497_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii51_21224378711_o 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_31742372093_o img_5297_33601840294_o intercambio-cultural-entre-gibraltar-y-cdiz_41086200300_o 29-mayo-inauguracin-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho02_14125104359_o img_0842_21606021591_o open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_16360706966_o 2g9a0902_48806239252_o 2g9a8834_48826628056_o Trafalgar-1 Punta-Europa-5 Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-21 img_9918_42144419452_o img_8023_42792486790_o img_0744_39737059525_o img_1362_36849710882_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-29_32129382315_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-19_37148806825_o_37027015991_o img_9898_36433410166_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026155741_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-78 img_2199_36991632212_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-4 visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26128564936_o img_3318_27839981016_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
