A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. gibraltar-music-festival-2013-olly-murs_9703106742_o university-31_39633680661_o Gibraltar Music Festival Sets off lincoln-uefa-21072015-16_19882330006_o 7u3a9496_49597827342_o Monos-54 2g9a0369_48801428422_o Alameda-17 sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39843297092_o shipping-3_38736511525_o the-main-guard-2_27855380119_o 2g9a4309_48230719412_o 2g9a4506_48713812173_o img_5231_48919070668_o 2g9a4669_48714142816_o img_1174_37002155585_o img_4582_48714144291_o img_2433_26972639258_o img_8018_42792486900_o 08-may-2017-27visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_33895390134_o 50_48203763416_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-36_31562033491_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall img_0489_36082691050_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770648960_o 2g9a5188_22782815758_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-101_29524280811_o 2g9a9562_29447145686_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27417187335_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-27 Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-62 Gibraltar Music Festival Sets off Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
