A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23242601371_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9699827313_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9699832013_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9699837491_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-26_9225450908_o img_0647_21596926225_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25756488022_o university-28_38925363414_o 7u3a5812_49425820816_o 2g9a8862_48826781552_o img_9905_25762443858_o Mezquita-21 P1080741 img_5113_48919070043_o img_5211_48919070858_o 7U3A2445 img_5282_40516032900_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-161_38490774926_o 2g9a5057_22782516378_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 113238_28871991264_o 23-feb-2018-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-e-izquierda-unida-19_38627527970_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-61_20999238500_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36996834552_o a-dsc_5931_19248924428_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026135481_o img_2989_24620621634_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
