140520 - Obras en la frontera de Gibraltar 2g9a9490_48908096646_o img_0029_19637114953_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 2g9a9912_48907837136_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-lawson_9699904439_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-en-chordais-11_9225437548_o 9-expo_frontera 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_31742372593_o 7u3a0057_50032952527_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-8_37398194050_o 7u3a5723_49426042227_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-33_37623772922_o Cuevas-de-San-Miguel-10 Monos-en-la-ciudad-25 evacuation-monument-0475_39634006581_o ragged-staff-3_27855460529_o Southport-gates-6 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48114498333_o 2g9a6775-copy_48204115457_o img_0122_45831060651_o img_1234_36605111830_o dscf7845_44550416902_o dscf7904_44600538511_o img_7321_34736987256_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-14_31331052453_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354045423_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354052253_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31427020276_o img_2360_36349031843_o 2g9a5313_30845032112_o 11-de-noviembre-2016-concurso-cyber-centurion-en-gibraltar-8_30828771561_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-11_30578376280_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-6_30578378180_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29876087291_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29876092151_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27417186425_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26405547700_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-13_24941101885_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
