2g9a9334_48908300092_o 2g9a9405_48908089521_o Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Commissioner of police at Town Range Polling Station as he oversees security) Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. pista-skate-gibraltar-01_9222270813_o 019_20070079180_o 25-noviember-2014-cola-de-salida-gibraltar-11_15881854262_o 4-oct-2017-cm-y-representantes-de-gibraltar-en-cuarta-comisin-de-naciones-unidas-12_37398295650_o cola-entrada-a-gibraltar-28072015-22_19468716553_o img_3745_34086394672_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-yasmin-levy-mediterranean-andalusian-orchestra-ashkelon-23_9225496602_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii81_21190115726_o 2013-Christmas inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25576702820_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-04_19900970102_o 7u3a9332_49597827112_o 31-de-mayo-ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho16_14129477520_o strongmen-201335_10019267813_o strongmen-201346_10019123736_o img_4133_20841544324_o img_9733_21275003860_o Monos-33 img_0653_38737101585_o Mezquita-4 P1080677 2g9a6824_48204069131_o img_5373_48919072188_o 25-abr-2019-visita-fabin-picardo-al-ies-virgen-de-la-esperanza-de-la-lnea-23_33820114398_o img_5306_41421434465_o img_9146_37650292474_o_38310538546_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-28_29495048432_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36996841542_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-62_29314654850_o img_2133_36349097943_o 2g9a6151_30306797643_o_31114931355_o img_5162_28854863544_o img_5205_29399314991_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26154504055_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-13bn_21228471602_o 2g9a9763_27262388294_o joseph-garca-viceministro-principal-de-gibraltar-el-9-feb-2016-durante-un-simulacro-de-incidente-en-el-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_24914999045_o 2g9a0147_26882584271_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
