He and his team then headed to Number Six where they held their first press call as the newly formed Government following a landslide victory. Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. cola-entrada-a-gibraltar-28072015-05_20089708635_o img_3393_34112867541_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25374456202_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0195_15252198057_o 7u3a9435_49597828457_o 2g9a0253_48800933828_o cervantes-06 sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_38976592075_o ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho20_14129425788_o 7u3a0067_50032693926_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-24 2g9a2044_49049027136_o panorama-6_38737331865_o shipping_39632672401_o 2g9a6792_48204069856_o 2g9a8485_46634156141_o img_3231_40895450802_o img_9342_43069220710_o img_0168_42144355952_o img_7988_42792487310_o img_9942_42190719001_o el-gobernador-de-gibralar-sir-edward-davis_37651612474_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-46_31640669266_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770640690_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-27_34309882052_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37168272005_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-16_29605155335_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-37_25327023349_o 2g9a9318_29482389665_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29876085361_o img_9505_26493026201_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
