Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. 2g9a9418_48907569073_o inmaculada-fotos-23112014-07_16093424945_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-yasmin-levy-mediterranean-andalusian-orchestra-ashkelon-36_9222725509_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez28_12101827835_o fiesta-del-1-de-mayo-en-gibraltar-01052015-07_17176697898_o partido-prensa-cdiz-veteranos-de-gibraltar-07_14755370252_o la-galera-gustavo-bacarisas-de-gibraltar-acoge-las-obras-realizadas-durante-los-talleres-de-verano-del-servicio-de-trastornos-del-aprendizaje_23859604863_o img_2695_30623754807_o 2g9a9884_50032156528_o 2g9a4911_48875163567_o 7u3a9652_49900812971_o 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-17_15832477913_o 1_Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-16 img_5025_48919067793_o img_5284_48919604246_o img_5311_48919604331_o img_2348_39948490785_o img_8147_42790071560_o cm22_35393033063_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-159_38547043961_o 2g9a5742_32763866335_o 2g9a4548_30879149156_o 120793_29462638656_o img_9495_25954130954_o Gibraltar Music Festival Sets off Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
