4987-2020_50166301678_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-642_22754531371_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23608073176_o img_0372_45202128095_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival14_14277902827_o img_9416_28984558207_o img_9889_21476750671_o img_0511_45389671994_o 2g9a0445_26246343674_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions img_9599_41403089674_o img_2705_45564866351_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131073431_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_28095507129_o 2g9a4549_48714308572_o 1_img_0111_29910409648_o 2g9a8457_46581729092_o img_9690_21275075720_o dscf7903_30729837628_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48114555162_o img_3148_40043122955_o 25-abr-2019-visita-fabin-picardo-al-ies-virgen-de-la-esperanza-de-la-lnea-2_47644434832_o img_8652_39910045081_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-6_32010697791_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-33_31562034291_o img_9880_36433410896_o img_2229_36326661384_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-25_29605150335_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-48_30828722271_o 2g9a9293_28860275853_o 2g9a9678_29372749442_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_28939778534_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27834005985_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_26808902754_o 05-ene-2016-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_23580012303_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
