Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23242781511_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez33_12102483146_o img_0548_44297154060_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival05_14981717367_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival46_14277789098_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii83_20595231523_o 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-18_24970498362_o 7u3a6512_49454012153_o superman-en-gibraltar-actor-henry-cavill-carrera-5km-del-350-aniversario-de-la-marina-britanica-25102014-10_15448934790_o img_4750_44297339750_o festival-literario-gibraltar08_10496954694_o festival-literario-gibraltar24_10496810756_o ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho01_14314277832_o open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_16199274400_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-11 img_6530_38924355214_o Mezquita-12 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131069986_o 2g9a8393_46634162131_o 20171214_163809_24195066997_o img_9319_31008114888_o img_2376_30765529808_o img_9766_44160764204_o img_0805_39737052355_o img_9514_44600533271_o img_8994_26588613049_o_38310545766_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978705836_o 1_17-feb-2017-visita-a-gibraltar-del-alcalde-de-chiclana-jos-mara-romn-y-rueda-de-prensa-con-fabin-picardo_32217921762_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-13_28981317203_o 2g9a5905_30999693541_o_31001133651_o 2g9a5081_30659547530_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-101_30962790565_o 2g9a7189_29207197243_o 2g9a9432_29481560885_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_28939780674_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27799753256_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-50 000-a-dsc_6114_19440964201_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
