A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_8495_20090064841_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-76_22756754281_o panormica-desde-la-parte-alta-del-pen_22750747331_o colas-de-salida-26-01-15_15759324583_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival51_15145308876_o jebel-sahara-sobre-el-terreno-7_22699279407_o img_4747_46113677051_o 2g9a0406_48800936943_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-17_19574860461_o gibraltar-estonia-marzo-2014-1_12955965285_o img_9514_41222417775_o 7u3a5821_49425351433_o 2g9a1964_49048524558_o 2g9a8860_48826781807_o fb25b0d5db8a7419686f3332b40edc83 shipping-23_25762308218_o Aerial view of the urban town population of Gibraltar.Photo by Cpl Scott Robertson RAFCommand Photographer British Forces Gibraltar wellington-front0438_39603689762_o img_7241_34614701482_o stormzy-at-mtv-presents-gibraltar-calling-2018-day-2-by-ollie-millington-14_43072435540_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 2g9a5899_30306647673_o_31114929795_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354088643_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-57_25326924809_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978705666_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-35_25327024399_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978714906_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-38_30578365210_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29565263665_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27732684382_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27799752226_o 4-abr-2016-inauguracin-nueva-sede-banco-internacional-de-gibraltar-7_26142219192_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_25549739864_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_25125250099_o 85-aniversario-museo-gibraltar-23072015-04_19968786701_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
